Quartz
The Quartz countertops does not necessarily need a sub-counter or an underlayment for support. However, the quartz are relatively heavy so in some places there might be the need for support. In order to find where to put the support we find the area where the cabinet support is minimal.
Steps To Install
Step 1: Firstly, measure the area that is being fitted to ensure the granite/quartz fits to the countertop. We ensure the granite or quartz fits snug, flushed, level and squared onto the plywood.
Step 2: Secondly, our professionals ensure that the slab of granite/quartz is fitted correctly. Remove the granite or quartz from the surface then apply the silicone adhesive. For instance, if the cabinet needs a plywood substrate or not. We know what amount to apply to the surface.
Step 3: Thirdly, carefully set the countertops in place by setting the back in place first. Lower the front of the countertop onto the silicone without smearing the silicone. Clamp the slab down to hold the countertop in place.
Step 4: However, once the countertops are set in place, apply strips of painter’s tape to the seams. Apply the tape as closely as possible to prevent epoxy from coming to the granite or quartz surface. However, epoxies must be mixed to achieve the color to match the granite or quartz. Mix epoxy with the pigment to achieve the desired color. Pour the mixture onto the surface and use putty knife to get it into the joints.
Step 5: Most importantly, overfill the seams on the countertops as we can sand away the excess when it dries. Mixing more epoxy than needed is good, as we make sure to get all the seams. It will be difficult to re-fill gaps or cracks after.
Step 6: Once everything dries, remove the tape and sand away excess epoxy. Apply enhancer-sealer to the countertops after installation. The enhancer and the sealer will make the colors more striking and the protect the stone, respectively. In conclusion, Cleveland CounterTops advise our customer to reapply the enhancer-sealer every year or two.
